Duke Shares Warm Moment With Teen at WellChild Awards During UK Visit
Prince Harry has won hearts with a touching comment about siblings while attending the WellChild Awards in London, even as tensions with his own family remain unresolved.
During a lighthearted chat with 17-year-old award winner Declan Bitmead, Harry asked with a grin, “Does he drive you mad?” when Declan mentioned having a younger brother. When Declan replied that they get along well, Harry smiled and said, “You know what, siblings.” On hearing that they attend the same school, he joked, “That sometimes makes it more challenging.”
Body language expert Judi James said Harry’s comments showed empathy, a technique he and Meghan Markle often use to build connections. She described the exchange as a bonding tactic, noting how Harry draws on personal experience to put others at ease.
Speaking at the event, Harry also reflected on his charity work with children. “I have always said for many years that I still have a child inside of me. I think all of us do. I think being amongst these kids brings that out of me,” he said. “Out of all the qualities that these kids have, without question, their resilience tops it all.”
He added with a laugh, “I have been slapped across the face, I’ve had my beard pulled, I have had my tie wrapped around my head,” recalling the unpredictable and joyful moments he has experienced while working with children.
Harry is in the UK on a four-day solo trip focused on charitable engagements, even as his rift with Prince William and King Charles III continues.
