The Duke of Sussex reinforces royal ties with heartfelt gesture
Prince Harry has released a new statement after making history as a member of the royal family during his recent visit to Nottingham.
The Duke of Sussex donated £1.1 million (about $1.49 million) to BBC Children in Need — reportedly one of the largest public contributions ever made by a British royal.
Following the visit, his team shared details on Sussex.com, describing Nottingham as holding a “special place in the hearts of those who understand the true meaning of community.”
Harry spent time with local organisations focused on helping young people, showing his commitment to supporting their growth and creating brighter futures.
“These organisations collectively prove what becomes possible when communities step up, commit to change, and create opportunity in ways that create lasting impact,” his statement read.
He also addressed the rising challenges caused by violence affecting young people and the grief it brings to their families.
“When young people see someone who has walked their path and emerged stronger, it creates a connection that transforms lives,” he said.
Harry called for national and local governments, police forces, crime commissioners, third-sector groups, and the private sector to work together, stressing that only joint efforts can bring lasting change and end violence.
