Prince Harry Makes Visit to Kyiv After Being Allowed Where Prince William Was Reportedly Blocked

Harry travels to Ukraine months after being denied to his brother over security fears

Prince Harry has made a surprise visit to Kyiv, just days after concluding a four-day trip to London where he met with his father, King Charles III, for the first time in nearly 19 months.

The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex travelled to Ukraine with the Invictus Foundation, marking his second trip to the country in recent months. His first visit reportedly stirred tensions behind palace walls, particularly with his older brother Prince William.

William, a long-time supporter of Ukraine since Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has never been allowed to visit the country himself. According to the Daily Mail, palace officials blocked his proposed trip on security grounds in 2024, despite his previous visits to Estonia and Poland. The decision reportedly left the heir to the throne frustrated, as he had “long hoped” to visit and was said to be “rankled” that his younger brother was able to go.

Harry has previously written in his memoir Spare that William had once wanted to serve on the “front lines,” as he had during his two tours of Afghanistan, but said palace officials had blocked those plans as well.
