Prince Harry wraps up UK visit with heartfelt tribute to his mother

Prince Harry is set to end his four-day trip to the United Kingdom on a deeply personal note. On Thursday morning (September 11), the Duke of Sussex will attend a private event for the Diana Award, the charity created in memory of his late mother Princess Diana. The organisation celebrates young changemakers around the world, and Harry’s appearance will be his final stop before returning to California.

The trip has been filled with moments that echoed his former life as a working royal. On Monday, he attended the WellChild Awards in London, where he praised the charity’s ongoing work with children who have complex medical needs. “The world has thrown a fair few challenges our way. But through it all, WellChild has remained rock solid in its mission: to give children and young people with complex medical needs the chance to thrive, not in hospital, but at home, surrounded by family, friends, and community,” he said during his speech. He also lightened the mood by joking with guests and joining in a playful balloon-sword fight.

On Tuesday, he travelled to Nottingham to support the Community Recording Studio, a project close to his heart. While there, he pledged £1.1 million of his own money to BBC Children in Need, calling it an “investment in futures,” and warmly embraced young performers after a moving rap performance.

Once he honours his mother’s legacy at the Diana Award event, Harry will head back to Montecito to reunite with Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
