Duchess of York shares emotional message amid reports of Prince William’s anger toward Prince Andrew
Sarah Ferguson has touched hearts with a handwritten letter in memory of her late mother, Susan Barrantes, while reports of renewed royal tensions swirl.
On September 19, the Duchess of York marked the anniversary of her mother’s death by posting a photo of her letter. In the note, she wrote:
"My Dearest Mum, I would love to tell you and show you how brilliantly your grandchildren are doing as Mothers. Thank you for giving me the Irish magic, Enthusiasm of life. Love you. Your devoted daughter, Sarah."
Her message came just days after she and her former husband, Prince Andrew, were said to have been “ignored” by the Prince of Wales at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral. Photos from the event showed William appearing visibly upset by his uncle’s presence.
Royal expert Andrew Lownie told The Mirror that William has been careful to keep his distance from Andrew, noting: “He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him.”
Sarah’s return to social media with such a personal tribute struck a tender note, reminding followers of her resilience and her bond with her late mother, even as royal family divisions continue to play out in public.
