Meghan Markle has once again found herself in the middle of controversy after a short video from Paris drew criticism for allegedly disrespecting her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Nearly thirty years after Diana’s tragic death in Paris, the late Princess of Wales remains an adored and deeply missed figure. Her sons, Harry and William, still carry the pain of her loss, while her brother, Earl Charles Spencer, continues to honour her legacy.
The Duchess of Sussex attended Paris Fashion Week last Saturday and later shared an Instagram Story showing her with her feet up while crossing a bridge. Many online users quickly speculated that she was at the same location where Diana’s fatal car crash occurred in 1997, calling the gesture “insensitive.”
However, those claims were soon disproven. Several users shared map evidence showing Meghan was actually on bridges such as the Pont Alexandre III or Pont des Invalides — both situated upstream from the Pont de l’Alma, the true site of the tragedy.
As criticism flooded social media, Charles Spencer posted a quiet reflection from his family’s Althorp estate, where Diana is buried. Sharing a nostalgic photo, he wrote, “The Falconry – built in 1613 – was my Althorp home when my father was alive. A privilege to live in such a spot.”
While Meghan’s video caused yet another wave of online debate, Spencer’s post served as a subtle reminder of the deep bond he shared with his sister and the lasting impact of her memory.
