The Duke of Sussex’s renewed demand for taxpayer-funded protection reportedly frustrates the King amid his ongoing health battle.
Just weeks after a long-awaited reunion, King Charles and his son Harry are said to be at odds once again.
The Duke of Sussex had recently expressed a desire to reconcile with his father after losing his security appeal against the UK Home Office. Their meeting last month offered a rare sign of progress following nearly two years of strained relations.
But that fragile peace appears to have been short-lived. According to reports, Harry has reignited his request for taxpayer-funded security—a move that has reportedly left the King “exasperated,” particularly as he continues weekly cancer treatments.
“Charles felt betrayed,” a source told ShuterScoop, explaining that the Duke did not inform the Palace before writing to the new Home Office Secretary to request a fresh risk assessment.
Harry’s letter followed reports that a stalker had breached his security zone twice during his September trip to the UK. “It’s the same fight on repeat,” the source added. “Harry won’t accept that he’s no longer entitled to taxpayer-funded protection.”
Palace insiders say the King is weary of the repeated disputes. “He thought they were rebuilding trust,” a courtier said. “Then Harry dragged everyone back into the drama. Charles is furious. He can’t change the rules, and Harry won’t stop pushing.”
Earlier, The Sunday Times reported that the monarch has no plans to intervene in the matter, calling it “inappropriate.”
