King Charles and Queen Camilla Announce State Visit After Ferguson Apology

Buckingham Palace confirms royal trip to the Vatican for Jubilee Year celebrations

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will make a State Visit to the Holy See in late October 2025, shortly after Sarah Ferguson’s apology over her past links to Jeffrey Epstein made headlines.

The 76-year-old King and the 78-year-old Queen will travel to Rome to join Pope Leo XIV in marking the 2025 Jubilee Year, a major event for the Catholic Church that takes place once every 25 years.

In a statement released with new photos of the couple, the Palace said:

“Their Majesties will undertake a State Visit to the Holy See in late October, joining Pope Leo XIV in celebrating the Jubilee Year. A Papal Jubilee occurs every 25 years, and is a special time for the Catholic Church. The visit will also celebrate the ecumenical work by the Church of England and the Catholic Church, reflecting the Jubilee’s theme of walking together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.”

The exact dates of the visit are yet to be confirmed, with further details expected next month.

This will be the King and Queen’s second Vatican trip in a year. They last visited earlier in 2025, where they held a private meeting with Pope Francis shortly before his death.
