Palace closes the estate ahead of the holidays, leaving talk of an invite for Harry and Meghan unresolved
The Palace has closed Sandringham House and its gardens to the public as preparations build for the Royal Family’s Christmas at the Norfolk estate. A notice on Friday read, “The House and Gardens are now closed to visit,” adding only that the “2026 season will be announced soon.”
Sandringham is the usual setting for the family’s festive gathering, which also allows non-working royals to spend time together. This year, however, questions linger over whether Harry and Meghan Markle will receive an invitation.
Reports suggest Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been told to remain “invisible” during the celebrations. Meanwhile, sources close to Harry say it is unlikely he will return to the United Kingdom after his September trip, particularly with Meghan and their two children.
With recent pressures inside the family and the estate now shut to visitors, any prospect of a surprise reunion remains a matter of debate rather than expectation.
