Monarch expected to connect with grandchildren despite family rift
King Charles is reportedly determined to involve his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet in the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations this year.
Grant Harrold, the King’s former butler, told Fabulous via The Sun that Charles “will want to see his grandkids” over the festive season. The possibility was strengthened by Harry’s recent gesture during his UK visit, when he is said to have presented his father with a framed photograph of the children.
The Duke of Sussex met privately with the King earlier this month, and although the picture did not feature either Harry or Meghan Markle, it appears to have touched Charles, who has had limited contact with Archie and Lilibet since the Sussexes settled in California in 2020.
Harrold suggested that the monarch is “guaranteed” to connect with the children on Christmas Day, most likely through a Zoom call. He also believes Charles will make sure gifts are sent to California so Archie and Lilibet can open presents from their grandfather while speaking to him from Windsor.
