Lady Louise Windsor may soon find herself at the centre of a royal debate. According to royal expert Christopher Wilson, Prince William and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, could have differing views on her future role within the monarchy.
The 21-year-old daughter of Sophie and Prince Edward is currently studying English at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. However, growing concern that the Royal Family is “running out of royals” to take on official duties has fuelled talk about her possible return to public life.
Sources suggest that Prince William is paying close attention to the situation as he continues shaping his vision of a “slimmed-down” monarchy. Despite his cautious approach, public demand for royal appearances remains strong across Britain.
Wilson believes Lady Louise could become a “dark horse” in this scenario, describing her as someone who “charms all who meet her” and could be a “useful asset” to the royal team. Yet he also warned that this idea might not sit well with her mother.
The Duchess of Edinburgh has long been protective of her daughter, ensuring her time at university has been as private and normal as possible. Wilson noted that Sophie may prefer her daughter to stay out of the public eye rather than take on royal duties too soon.
