The Duchess of Sussex supports close friend Pierpaolo Piccioli at his first
Balenciaga show
Meghan Markle made an unexpected yet glamorous appearance at Paris Fashion
Week, stunning onlookers as she joined the stylish crowd at one of the
season’s most anticipated events. The Duchess of Sussex travelled to France on
her own to support her longtime friend and designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli, who
recently became Balenciaga’s new creative director.
For her debut at the prestigious fashion week, Meghan opted for a crisp white
look, pairing an oversized cape with a classic button-down shirt and loose
trousers in the same tone. Later, she was seen in a chic all-black dress with
subtle cape detailing, mirroring the elegance of her earlier outfit.
After the show, Meghan gave followers a peek behind the scenes through her
Instagram Stories. In one clip, she was seen walking in her white ensemble and
black stilettos to the tune of Julien Doré and Vitaa’s Viens on essaie.
Another showed her returning to what appeared to be her hotel after an evening
of high fashion.
Meghan and Piccioli share a long friendship that began during his time at
Valentino. He played a key role in designing some of her most memorable looks
during her years as a working royal.
Following the Saturday show, a spokesperson for the Duchess shared that this
marked her “first time back to the shows in over a decade.” The statement
continued, “Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by
Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on key moments on
the world stage. She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance,
and tonight was no different. This show reflects the culmination of many years
of artistry and friendship.”
