Prince William Softens Stance on Harry After King Charles' Request

The Prince of Wales acknowledges his brother during a candid conversation, showing signs of reconciliation

Prince William appeared to take a gentler tone toward his brother, Harry, after King Charles reportedly asked for a private meeting between the two. The gesture came as the Prince of Wales made a rare reference to his sibling during an emotional discussion about his past and his hopes for the monarchy’s future.

In his appearance on the Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, hosted by Eugene Levy, William opened up about his royal duties, his vision for his reign, and the impact of his parents’ divorce on his childhood. When asked about his son George’s future as a king, William said, “It’s an interesting question and a big one. There are lots of things to think about. But I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do—a world and a job that truly impacts people’s lives for the better.”

The Prince of Wales went on to make a subtle but meaningful mention of his brother. “That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in. I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

Royal commentator Jennie Bond told The Mirror that the mention signalled William hasn’t completely “blocked” his brother from his mind. “The mention of Harry is indeed fleeting, but it shows William hasn’t erased him from his thoughts,” she said. Bond added that their shared trauma from childhood will always connect the brothers, regardless of current tensions.

“It was only natural for him to include Harry when talking about his early life, but I don’t think we should read too much into it,” Bond continued.

William’s comment came shortly after reports of a private meeting between King Charles and Harry at Clarence House, which was said to have been arranged on the King’s order. While it’s unclear how the brothers’ relationship stands now, William’s brief acknowledgment suggests he may be quietly moving away from completely shutting his brother out.
