Future king seen correcting his uncle at Duchess of Kent’s funeral
Prince William reportedly clashed with his uncle, Prince Andrew, during the Duchess of Kent’s funeral on September 16th. The Prince of Wales appeared unsettled when the Duke of York was caught on camera laughing during the solemn service outside Westminster Cathedral.
In a video that quickly spread online, Andrew is seen giggling before William raises his hand to his mouth and appears to quietly reprimand him. A source claimed the heir to the throne told his uncle that appearing so cheerful at a funeral was “not a good look.”
“William is deliberately speaking behind his hand so you can’t see what he is saying,” a royal insider told the Mail. “He was clearly aware the cameras were on them and felt uncomfortable.”
The source added that William’s intervention was less about the family moment itself and more about the public optics. “He is very media savvy and would have known how it might appear. He also didn’t want to be seen chatting too casually with his uncle during such an occasion.”
William and Catherine were present to support King Charles at the funeral. Queen Camilla was absent as she recovered from acute sinusitis ahead of hosting Donald Trump’s upcoming State Visit to the UK.
