Harry’s recent comments about his meeting with King Charles have stirred quiet unease at Kensington Palace, according to insiders. While his decision to stay silent often works in his favour, his words this time seem to have had the opposite effect.
Palace sources suggest that the Prince and Princess of Wales were caught off guard by the Duke of Sussex’s description of his royal welcome in the UK. “The future king and queen were told in advance about the meeting between Harry and the King, but they were not aware he would be given such special importance,” one insider claimed.
The source added that William and Catherine had assumed Harry would not be treated as a working royal. His public comments, they suggested, contradicted that expectation and left senior aides “saddened and perplexed.”
According to The Sunday Times, palace staff have been working quietly behind the scenes to mend family ties. One official warned that Harry risks derailing reconciliation by continuing to speak publicly about private discussions.
Harry’s camp, however, disputes that version of events. A spokesperson for the Duke stated that reports about his view of the meeting were “categorically false” and accused unnamed figures of trying to undermine progress between father and son.
