Meghan Markle’s estranged father sets the record straight after his other daughter falsely claimed he was trapped during the Philippines earthquake.
Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has spoken out after his daughter Samantha sparked chaos online with alarming claims about his safety.
The Duchess of Sussex has long been estranged from her father and half-sister, and their family rift has often played out publicly. So when Samantha took to X to allege that Thomas was “trapped” in a building following the deadly earthquake in the Philippines on September 30 — and went as far as to blame Meghan for his supposed predicament — the story quickly gained traction.
Thomas has now reassured everyone that none of it was true. Speaking to TMZ, he confirmed he was safe and comfortable, saying, “The epicentre was 100 miles from here. I’m currently sitting on the couch in my hotel room, with my feet kicked up and watching Charlie Chan movies. I’m quite comfortable.”
Samantha had claimed online that her father was stuck on the 19th floor and unable to move after the 6.9-magnitude quake that killed at least 72 people and injured more than 200. In a heated post, she even blamed Meghan, writing, “Shame on my disgusting evil f*****g sister forever putting our father in this position.”
She later insisted she speaks to her father daily and thanked supporters for their concern. But Thomas refuted that, saying he hasn’t spoken to Samantha and has no idea why she made the claims.
