Royal Family issues first response after Andrew stirs tension with King Charles

Buckingham Palace shares key update as Andrew appears to ‘celebrate’ new freedom

Buckingham Palace has released its first public message after reports that Andrew once again left his brother, King Charles, displeased with his recent behaviour.

On 18 November, the royal family’s official social media accounts highlighted Duchess Sophie’s important visit to Guatemala. The post included several photos of her meetings with groups working on environmental protection and human rights.

During her trip, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Tikal National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rich biodiversity and archaeological significance.

She also spent time at Alianza Guatemala, an organisation focused on protecting vulnerable children and teenagers. Sophie was later photographed with young people during her visit to the Street Kids Direct Project, which supports children who are homeless or at high risk of ending up on the streets.

The Palace’s update came shortly after reports surfaced claiming Andrew felt relieved after losing his remaining royal titles. According to the reports, he has been telling friends he feels “freer than ever” and intends to enjoy simple outings such as visiting the pub without worrying about royal protocol.

Andrew was also seen riding a horse around Windsor after several weeks out of the public eye, appearing in noticeably good spirits.

According to the Daily Mail, the sight of the former Duke of York riding on the Windsor estate was viewed as “really not a good look.” A source noted that the King would not be pleased to see his brother photographed on land maintained by taxpayers, particularly given the ongoing scrutiny.
