Andrew’s teddy bears spark fresh strain for the royal family amid Royal Lodge exit

Former Prince Andrew reportedly turns to unusual comforts as eviction looms

Former Prince Andrew is said to be creating fresh tension behind palace doors as he prepares to leave Royal Lodge, with insiders claiming he has become increasingly dependent on his collection of teddy bears.

Sources told Heat magazine that the former Duke of York’s attachment has raised eyebrows among staff, particularly as the move draws closer. According to one insider, Andrew spends much of his time talking to the bears and treating them as companions, even relaying supposed “messages” from them to employees.

At 65, and largely on his own while Sarah Ferguson is often away, Andrew is described as feeling deeply isolated. The source claimed his anxiety now extends to how the bears will handle the relocation to Sandringham, suggesting he sees the house as their home as much as his own.

“He’s convinced the move will be hard on them,” the insider said, adding that Andrew has fully projected human emotions onto the toys.

The source went on to suggest the enforced move has unsettled him more than expected. “He keeps insisting the bears won’t cope with the change,” they said, describing it as a sign of how emotionally fragile he has become.

While some may dismiss the behaviour as strange, the insider insisted Andrew is struggling. They claimed the bears, along with his late mother’s corgis, are the only sense of comfort he feels he can rely on, with quiet concern growing among those around him about his state of mind.
