Royal insiders say summer UK visits are planned, but Meghan Markle remains worried about safety and online abuse
The Duke of Sussex has said he hopes to spend time with King Charles when he returns to the UK later this year. According to royal insiders quoted by the Daily Express, he is planning trips in July and August and is keen to rebuild his relationship with his father.
Sources say he would like to bring his family with him, including Meghan Markle and their children, but only if ongoing reviews into his UK security arrangements make it safe to do so. One close confidant explained that he wants to come home, but his main concern is ensuring proper protection for his wife and family.
Insiders added that Meghan Markle has serious worries about security and about hostile online behaviour. They said discussions have already taken place during his recent visit, with the Duke stressing that safety must come first before any family trip can happen.
The report also claims he is more determined than ever to make peace with the monarch after spending four days in London this week.
During his time in the UK, the Duke appeared in court as part of his legal case against a newspaper publisher. Speaking emotionally at the High Court, he accused two British newspapers of making Meghan Markle’s life “an absolute misery.” He described the legal battle as a horrible experience and said being forced to relive past events had been deeply upsetting.
He told the court that the claim he had no right to privacy was disgusting and said that standing up to the media had only led to further attacks on him and his wife. Holding back tears, he said the pressure of the case and the continued attention had taken a heavy toll on Meghan Markle.
Despite the legal stress and security concerns, those close to him say his main aim remains the same: to feel safe enough to return to Britain with his family and to spend time with his father.
