Duke of Sussex shows support for Elizabeth Hurley after his emotional court testimony

The Duke of Sussex returned to the High Court in London on January 22 to back fellow claimant Elizabeth Hurley, a day after completing his own evidence in the long-running case against the publishers of the Daily Mail.

Hurley took the witness stand shortly after 10.30am, swearing an oath on the Bible before answering questions from Anthony White, counsel for Associated Newspapers. The Duke remained seated in the courtroom throughout her testimony as a visible show of support.

His appearance came a day after he delivered an emotional account of his own claims, telling the court that press intrusion had made life for his wife, Meghan Markle, “an absolute misery.”

The case centres on allegations that Associated Newspapers used unlawful methods to gather private information. Several high-profile figures are involved, including Hurley, Sadie Frost, former wife of Jude Law, and David Furnish, husband of Elton John. The claimants allege the use of private investigators, phone hacking, and other intrusive tactics to obtain personal and financial details.

Associated Newspapers has denied the accusations. The proceedings are ongoing.
