Prince Harry can either keep chasing relevance through controversy or build a new identity based on service, charity and genuine leadership, according to a royal expert.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said the Duke appears torn between his royal roots and his ambitions in the celebrity world.
She explained that Meghan Markle understands how to shape a narrative and build a brand, but Harry has yet to show he can do the same without leaning on royal drama. Schofield added that public interest in grievance-based storytelling has started to fade.
“If there’s going to be a comeback, it will require reinvention,” she said. “Less victim narrative and more real purpose. Right now, the Sussex brand feels stuck, and Harry seems caught between royal identity and celebrity ambition.”
Since moving to California with Meghan, Harry has reached what Schofield described as a “crossroads.”
“He can continue chasing relevance through proximity to controversy, or he can build an identity rooted in service, philanthropy and genuine leadership,” she said. “That path would demand humility and patience, which Hollywood does not reward quickly. But it is the only route that offers lasting credibility.”
Schofield also suggested that Harry has simply swapped one hierarchy for another.
“In the royal family, he was the spare to Prince William,” she said. “In Hollywood, he risks becoming the supporting character to Meghan Markle’s ambitions. The entertainment industry values relevance, star power and personal branding above all else.”
