A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry has effectively become his wife Meghan Markle’s “spare” since moving to California.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal commentator Hilary Fordwich said people close to Harry believe he deeply misses his old friends in England. As Meghan leans into Hollywood life, Fordwich argues that Harry has been pushed into a supporting role.
She added that Harry still struggles with public attention, which has made him less appealing as a solo figure. His ongoing legal battles with the British media, she said, have only reinforced an image of victimhood that does not play well in the entertainment industry.
“He’s leaning into a victim narrative, and that isn’t attractive in Hollywood,” Fordwich said. “I don’t see a major comeback for Harry, certainly not while he remains stuck in that mindset. The shock value from royal revelations has worn off, and he seems trapped in the past.”
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 but continue to use their Duke and Duchess titles. Fordwich noted that anything linked to the royal family will always generate interest, but even that may no longer be enough to carry weak projects.
“Even their titles don’t seem powerful enough anymore to draw audiences to lacklustre work,” she said.
Fordwich also suggested Harry could one day return to Britain, though only briefly and for personal reasons.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back for short visits each year,” she said. “But there is no realistic chance of him resuming royal duties, especially given Prince William’s strong opposition.”
