A royal expert says the brothers are now further apart than ever, despite being in the same country
Prince William appears to be moving ahead with his life and role, while the Duke of Sussex is still focused on past disputes, according to a royal commentator.
Last week, the Prince and Princess of Wales were in Scotland for official engagements, where they met locals and even tried curling for the first time ahead of the Winter Olympics. The visit was marked by relaxed moments and positive public interaction.
At the same time, the Duke of Sussex was preparing to give evidence at the High Court in his case against the publisher of the Daily Mail. Although the brothers were reportedly only around 25 miles apart, they did not see each other.
Royal author Robert Jobson said the emotional distance between them now outweighs any physical closeness. Speaking to Hello! Magazine, he remarked that while they were in the same country, it felt as though they were in completely different worlds.
He described William and Catherine as representing the future of the monarchy, while Harry, in his view, remains caught up in past conflicts. Jobson said William is focused on service and responsibility, whereas Harry is still revisiting old battles.
According to the expert, the divide between the brothers has become absolute. He added that William is building his future without needing the tension that comes with his brother’s situation.
Jobson concluded that reconciliation would require trust and compromise, neither of which currently exists. With one brother looking ahead and the other holding on to bitterness, he suggested the gap between them is unlikely to close anytime soon.
