The Princess of Wales opens up during a meaningful hospital visit
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has been praised for showing a rare strength during a recent visit that also brought an important update about her health.
The princess returned to the hospital where she received cancer treatment earlier in 2025, making a deeply personal and emotional appearance at the Royal Marsden Hospital. During the visit, she spent time with patients currently undergoing treatment and spoke openly about her own experience.
Royal commentator Judi James said Catherine’s approach showed a “unique royal superpower”, explaining that her empathy comes from lived experience rather than imagination. She noted that Catherine’s first-hand understanding of illness gives her a deeper ability to listen and connect with others facing similar challenges.
“Her empathy is prompted by personal and shared experience,” Judi explained, rather than trying to imagine what someone else is going through.
The visit carried extra significance as Catherine also confirmed she is now in remission. In a message shared on social media, she wrote:
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
Her words, combined with the visit itself, highlighted both her progress and her determination to support others walking the same path.
