Prince William is said to be strongly opposed to King Charles’ desire to bring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back into the royal fold.
According to reports, the Prince of Wales has no interest in reopening communication with his younger brother. Sources claim the brothers have not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, and William does not feel ready to move past their long-running rift.
He is believed to remain deeply hurt by claims made in Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare, including allegations of a physical confrontation between them and remarks that were critical of Meghan.
While William is holding firm, King Charles is reportedly taking a different approach. The monarch is said to be encouraging Catherine to play a key role in helping heal the family divide, believing that the ongoing feud is damaging the monarchy’s public image.
“Charles is acutely aware that every move will be scrutinised,” a source said. “Allowing this feud to continue in public is harmful to the monarchy, and he believes Catherine understands better than anyone how things look from the outside and how to put duty before personal feelings when necessary.”
Another insider told Radar Online that Charles sees his daughter-in-law as a calming influence. “He knows his son’s temperament well and believes that easing tensions will require patience and diplomacy that only she can provide.”
For now, however, William is said to remain unconvinced, leaving the family divided over how, or even whether, a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan should happen.
