Prince William was reportedly distant towards Princess Eugenie during the royal family’s Christmas Day gathering, according to an eyewitness.
Eugenie and her sister Beatrice attended the annual Sandringham celebrations at the invitation of King Charles, while their father, Prince Andrew, was notably absent.
Radar Online quoted a royal observer who claimed the Prince of Wales appeared to avoid eye contact with Eugenie during the traditional walkabout after the church service.
“Christmas Day might have offered a chance for a visible sign of unity, even something as simple as walking together or sharing a smile in public,” the source said. “Instead, that moment passed without any such display, for reasons that remain unclear.”
However, another source close to the family pushed back on the idea of a serious rift, saying William spent time with both Eugenie and Beatrice over the holiday.
They added there were “no major hard feelings” between William and Eugenie.
In contrast to claims of tension, an insider previously suggested the future king has sympathy for his cousins as they continue to face scrutiny because of their father’s past links to Jeffrey Epstein.
“Beatrice and Eugenie have been under intense public pressure due to their parents’ actions,” the insider said. “William understands what it’s like to grow up with constant media attention. He feels for them and has been quietly offering support and advice behind the scenes.”
