Eyewitness describes tense exchanges and emotional moments during High Court hearing
A royal expert who attended Harry’s High Court appearance has claimed the Duke of Sussex looked tense and visibly frustrated throughout his testimony against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers Limited.
Speaking to Royal Insider, journalist Chris Ship said the atmosphere in the courtroom was strained from the start. He described Harry’s exchange with the publisher’s barrister, Antony White, as “tense and frosty,” adding that the Duke came across as “bullish” during questioning.
Ship said Harry’s body language revealed just as much as his words. He noted that Harry shifted in his chair and appeared unable to hide his anger, suggesting his frustration with the newspaper group was showing through despite his controlled answers.
The mood shifted further near the end of Harry’s evidence when the subject turned to Meghan Markle. Ship said Harry seemed to struggle to keep his emotions in check, biting his lip and becoming tearful as he spoke.
According to People magazine, Harry became emotional while describing the impact of press coverage on his wife. During the hearing, he told the court that taking a stand against the media had only intensified the attacks.
“They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery, my Lord,” he said, explaining that the legal battle had continued to follow him and his family.
