Sarah Ferguson is preparing for a fresh chapter as she plans to live separately from Prince Andrew for the first time in more than two decades.
The former Duchess of York is expected to leave Royal Lodge by the end of the month, marking a major shift nearly 30 years after the couple’s divorce. Although Sarah and Andrew have continued to live under the same roof for years, that arrangement is finally coming to an end.
According to a source speaking to Hello! Magazine, Sarah has stood by Andrew throughout recent controversies but now feels ready to move forward on her own. The insider said she will not be joining him at his reported new home on the Sandringham estate and also does not plan to stay with their daughters.
“She has stood by him all these years but is now ready to spread her wings,” the source explained, adding that while Portugal is a possible short-term option, Sarah is ultimately looking for a place of her own.
The pair were asked to vacate Royal Lodge after Andrew lost his royal titles and the lease on the 30-room property. He is now formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The source also described Andrew as increasingly withdrawn. “He’s stopped getting newspapers or reading anything. He’s in his own bubble,” they said, noting that while his daughters still see him, Sarah remains deeply affected by everything that has unfolded.
For Sarah, the move appears less about distance and more about independence, a chance to finally step into life on her own terms after years of standing in the background.
