William frustrated as tighter security makes life harder for Windsor residents

Prince of Wales dislikes closing public spaces but feels he has no alternative, source claims

Prince William is said to be struggling with the impact that tighter security has had around his family’s new home in Windsor. The Forest Lodge sits within a private part of Windsor Great Park, but recent incidents have forced restrictions that are now affecting local residents.

According to Closer Magazine, the Prince of Wales is finding it difficult to accept how much security now dominates daily life for him and Catherine. The measures were strengthened after several break-ins and security scares over the past year.

Last month, a man named Derek Egan reportedly entered the grounds of Kensington Palace twice, just days before Christmas. Earlier, in October 2024, two masked intruders forced their way through a gate and climbed a six-foot fence at Windsor Castle while William, Catherine and their children were asleep nearby at Adelaide Cottage.

These incidents have led to stricter controls, including closing off areas that locals had used for years. A previous report by The Mirror claimed residents were angry about losing access to familiar spaces since the family relocated.

A source said the situation has taken an emotional toll on the couple. “They both despise the checkpoints, the constant planning, and the feeling of being trapped. It makes them angry and sad in equal measure,” the insider claimed.

The source added that spontaneity has disappeared from their lives. “Nothing is spontaneous anymore. Even family time comes with risk assessments. It’s exhausting, and it’s the part of royal life they hate the most.”

Despite their frustration, the decision was not a difficult one when it came to their children. “They didn’t want to do it. William hates shutting people out, and Catherine hates the sense of isolation. But when it comes to the children, there’s no hesitation. Their safety comes first.”
