Royal expert warns King Charles that the future of the monarchy could be at risk amid renewed Epstein fallout
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson have been accused of inflicting “untold damage” on the British monarchy, with a royal commentator warning that the long-term consequences could be severe.
The criticism follows the release of millions of documents by US authorities linked to Jeffrey Epstein. While the files do not accuse Andrew of wrongdoing, his name appears repeatedly, reviving scrutiny of his past associations and reigniting public anger.
Royal commentator Andrew Norman Wilson issued a stark warning, saying the fallout could place the monarchy itself in jeopardy. Speaking to The Express, Wilson said recent images and revelations involving Andrew have pushed the Royal Family to “a new low”.
He referenced Victorian journalist Walter Bagehot, whose famous line about the monarchy warned that its power depends on preserving its mystique. Wilson said those words now sound “more ominous than ever”.
According to him, the Epstein revelations involving Andrew and his former wife are among the most damaging in modern royal history. He argued their lifestyle and judgement, exposed once again by the scandal, have caused lasting harm that may be impossible to undo.
Wilson also suggested King Charles has done everything he can to stabilise the institution, pointing to the seriousness with which he approached his Coronation. In his view, the King understands that public belief in the monarchy is essential to its survival.
However, he claimed Andrew’s continued association with the scandal has made that task increasingly difficult. Wilson added that the wider Royal Family has been tainted by the ongoing Epstein affair, which continues to have political repercussions in the United States.
He concluded that the controversy is far from over and warned that further developments could place even more strain on the monarchy in the months ahead.
