Meghan Markle has reportedly turned to Netflix with a firm request as criticism surrounding her strained relationship with her father continues to build.
According to reports, Meghan wants the streaming giant to step up its public relations support as negative attention mounts over her ongoing feud with her estranged father, Thomas Markle.
The backlash intensified after Meghan chose not to visit her father when he was recently hospitalised in the Philippines and underwent a leg amputation. Although she later sent him a letter, it did little to ease public reaction, with some critics accusing her of showing a lack of concern.
An insider told Radar Online that Meghan is increasingly anxious the controversy could spill over into her professional life, particularly her future projects with Netflix.
“Meghan’s been pushing executives hard, saying they need to make this situation with her father disappear or everyone involved will feel the consequences,” the source claimed. “She knows Netflix has poured a lot of money and promotion into her and Harry, and she expects them to protect that investment.”
The timing, the insider added, could not be worse. Meghan and Harry are currently working with Netflix on a romantic comedy titled The Wedding Date.
“It’s glossy, romantic, and meant to expand their appeal well beyond royal drama,” the source said. “Both the Sussexes and Netflix see this as a make-or-break moment in their partnership.”
As scrutiny continues, all eyes are now on how Netflix responds and whether the controversy will affect the couple’s long-term future with the platform.
