Expert Calls for Prince Harry to Be Removed from Line of Succession

A royal commentator has suggested that Prince Harry should face the same outcome as Prince Andrew when it comes to the line of succession.

The Duke of Sussex, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and now lives in the United States, has been described as unsuitable for a future role on the throne due to his non-working status.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond argued that Prince Andrew should be removed from the line of succession altogether. She said that if someone is no longer considered fit to carry out royal responsibilities, it makes little sense for them to remain in line to become monarch. She also questioned Andrew’s position as a Counsellor of State, suggesting it is inappropriate given the circumstances.

Bond went further, proposing a broader overhaul of the succession order. In her view, Harry and his children should also be removed, along with Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and their children. She suggested a streamlined structure that would see Prince William and his children followed by Princess Anne and Prince Edward, calling that arrangement more practical and focused.

According to Bond, the current extended line of succession has become overly complicated. She pointed out that many people are unaware of how far it stretches, noting that individuals such as Athena Mapelli Mozzi and Ernest Brooksbank are currently positioned 11th and 14th respectively.

Her comments add to ongoing debate about whether the monarchy should modernise its structure and narrow the line of succession to reflect active working members of the Royal Family.
