Catherine attends parade solo, continuing her gradual return to royal duties
Catherine marked St. Patrick’s Day with a polished appearance at Mons Barracks, attending the Irish Guards parade in her role as Colonel of the regiment. Dressed in an elegant outfit, she carried out the long-standing tradition of presenting sprigs of shamrock to soldiers.
She has supported the Irish Guards at this annual event since 2012, though this year’s engagement stood out as her first solo attendance in the role. William, who previously held the Colonel position, did not join her.
Catherine took over the honorary title in 2022 following changes within the royal family after King Charles’ accession. Her presence at the parade reflects a steady return to public life.
After the ceremony, she was expected to award long service and good conduct medals, meet members of the Regimental Association, and spend time with junior cadets known as the “Mini Micks” from Northern Ireland.
Her appearance comes as she gradually resumes duties after completing preventative chemotherapy, increasing her public engagements in recent months.
