Duke believes he has been treated unfairly as scrutiny intensifies
Prince Andrew is said to be deeply frustrated with his family, particularly King Charles, as he faces mounting legal and public pressure.
According to royal commentator Richard Eden, the Duke of York is determined to restore his reputation. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Eden said Andrew is “insistent that he can and will clear his name.” A friend of the Duke claims he feels he has been treated harshly and believes his brother, the King, has not done enough to defend him during the ongoing controversy.
The situation escalated following Andrew’s recent arrest over alleged misconduct in public office. Since then, he has remained largely out of public view. Once based at Royal Lodge, he relocated earlier this year to Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate. Both residences became the focus of police searches, with officers spending several days at Royal Lodge and later carrying out further inquiries at Wood Farm on the day of his arrest.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that search operations in Berkshire have now concluded. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright acknowledged the intense public interest in the case and emphasised that investigators require time and space while inquiries continue.
King Charles publicly stated that he supports the authorities and that the legal process should proceed without interference. However, sources close to Andrew suggest he feels exposed and unsupported, despite continuing to receive financial assistance and accommodation on the Sandringham Estate.
The Duke’s position has been under strain since his widely criticised 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, in which he addressed questions about his association with Jeffrey Epstein. At the time, he said he had not been aware of any wrongdoing when he accepted invitations linked to the financier.
For now, Andrew remains out of the spotlight as the investigation moves forward, maintaining that he intends to clear his name.
