Organisers confirm New Delhi show will go ahead despite growing controversy around rapper’s European performances
Kanye West’s recent run of troubling updates about his concerts has left fans uneasy, but the latest development offers a more hopeful outlook.
While the rapper, now known as Ye, faces an entry ban in the United Kingdom and the possibility of restrictions on his upcoming performance in Marseille, France, organisers say his planned show in India is still moving forward.
Aman Kumar, co-founder of the event company White Fox, confirmed that the highly anticipated concert in New Delhi remains scheduled for May 23.
Speaking to The Independent, Kumar said, “Ye Live in India is set to take place at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on the 23rd of May.”
He described the event as more than just another stop on a tour. “It is a one-night-only cultural moment, not just a concert, but one of the largest live experiences the country has ever witnessed. This is not just a tour stop. This is a moment of alignment,” he added.
Despite the assurance, many fans had been worried about the show’s future. Concerns began earlier when organisers unexpectedly postponed the original March date, attributing the change to “geopolitical tensions”.
At the same time, uncertainty continues to surround West’s other international appearances. France’s interior minister is reportedly examining legal options to prevent the rapper from performing in Marseille on June 11.
According to the French newspaper Libération, authorities are considering several possible steps that could block Ye from taking the stage.
The scrutiny follows the United Kingdom’s decision to prevent the Grammy-winning artist from entering the country, which resulted in the cancellation of his planned performance at London’s Wireless Festival.
