TV host says King Charles could announce it to Congress next week
Broadcaster Piers Morgan has jokingly suggested that Prince Harry’s royal title should be handed to Eric Trump during a playful exchange on social media.
Morgan made the remarks after reports emerged about an internal Pentagon email that allegedly proposed reviewing the United States’ stance on the Falkland Islands following Britain’s position on the Iran conflict.
Reacting online, Morgan wrote that if Donald Trump wanted to take the Falklands from Britain, then Britain should reclaim the United States instead.
He added that it would be the perfect way to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, before joking: “King Charles III can announce it to Congress next week.”
The post drew a response from Eric Trump, who teased Morgan by saying the idea had not gone well for Britain the last time, adding that he should begin by taking back London and restoring freedom of speech.
Morgan then fired back with another joke, saying he would make Eric a prince and give him Harry’s title.
In a separate reply to another user, the presenter also referred to himself as “King Piers of the United States of America.”
According to Reuters, the Pentagon email reportedly outlined possible ways the United States could pressure NATO allies it believed had not fully backed American operations in Iran, including reassessing diplomatic support for long-standing European overseas territories such as the Falkland Islands.
