Meghan Markle and Harry warned over using royal titles during Australia visit

Experts say the couple’s tour could create confusion about their role

Meghan Markle and Harry have been issued a strong warning about using their royal titles during their upcoming visit to Australia next week.

Royal commentators say the move could upset the royal family and create confusion about the purpose of the trip.

According to reports, royal expert Robert Jobson suggested that Buckingham Palace would likely prefer the couple not to make the visit at all, though there is little the palace can do to prevent it.

He said the trip may leave many people unsure about why the couple are travelling and what role they are representing.

“There will undoubtedly be a sense of confusion about what Harry and Meghan are there for,” Jobson explained, adding that the visit could be uncomfortable for the palace.

Other royal experts have also raised concerns about the couple using their titles while visiting a country where King Charles remains head of state.

Another commentator claimed the pair still seek the attention that comes with royal connections, suggesting they “yearn for the catnip of attention.”

Royal author Robert Hardman also pointed out that the lines surrounding the couple’s titles have often appeared blurred since they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

He explained that if the couple travel purely as celebrities, it would likely cause little concern. However, any appearance of an official royal role could attract criticism.

The California-based couple are expected to visit Australia for the first time in nearly eight years. Their last visit to the country came shortly after Meghan announced she was pregnant with their first child.
