According to an insider quoted by Star Magazine, the Duchess of Sussex believes living closer to Los Angeles would make both her professional and personal life easier.
The source claimed Meghan has grown tired of spending hours travelling from their current home in Montecito for meetings and appointments in the city. The insider said the long drive can take up a significant portion of her day.
Another factor behind the reported idea is the couple’s experience in their neighbourhood. The insider alleged that Meghan has felt unwelcome at times, adding to her desire to explore other locations.
Harry and Meghan purchased their Montecito property for around $14.65 million, but the source suggested the area often serves as a quiet retreat for many wealthy residents rather than a bustling social hub.
According to the insider, Meghan feels the location leaves them somewhat removed from Hollywood’s networking scene, where many entertainment and business deals are often discussed.
With business opportunities still largely centred in Los Angeles, the source claimed Meghan wants to be more connected to the city’s social and professional circles.
The insider added that she has been considering several possible locations if the couple decide to establish another base closer to Los Angeles.
Areas such as Brentwood and Bel Air were reportedly mentioned as attractive options, as many of Meghan’s friends live there. However, the source suggested maintaining two large properties may not be financially practical.
As a result, other possibilities have reportedly been discussed, including Malibu, which could appeal to Harry’s preference for a coastal lifestyle, or Calabasas, a well-known neighbourhood popular with several high-profile celebrities.
