Prince Andrew’s New Sandringham Home Has a Noticeable ‘Smell,’ Expert Says

Writer shares surprising details after visiting the royal’s modest new residence

Prince Andrew’s new home on the Sandringham Estate has sparked discussion after an expert described a distinct smell around the property.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, is said to be staying at Wood Farm after leaving his residence in Windsor. The property is currently being used as a temporary base while his living arrangements continue to change.

Writer Julia Banim recently visited the Sandringham Estate and shared her impressions of the house. According to her, the home is far more modest than many might expect for someone born at Buckingham Palace.

“I visited the Sandringham Estate shortly after Andrew’s shock move and was taken aback by this relatively humble abode,” she wrote. “While it would be a dream home for many people and includes several outbuildings, it’s not the kind of property that immediately stops you in your tracks.”

Banim explained that although the house is large, it does not have the grand appearance often associated with royal residences.

Writing for Mirror, she also described the surrounding area, noting that privacy seemed limited because the front windows sit close to an ordinary country lane.

“The garden has a neglected, sleepy look, and the smell of wet mud took me aback,” she said.

She added that the red-brick property resembles the comfortable home of a well-off middle-class professional rather than the residence of a royal figure.

The comments come as questions continue about Andrew’s living arrangements. A source told Mirror that he is currently moving between two properties.

“Andrew was evicted from Royal Lodge at Windsor but now has two homes at his disposal,” the source claimed. “He is going back and forth between Wood Farm and Marsh Farm. It needs to be sorted because Edward and Sophie also like to use Wood Farm.”
