A family member shares why the former Duchess of York has chosen to stay away from the spotlight
Sarah Ferguson has been keeping a noticeably low profile in recent months, and a relative has now shared the reason behind her decision to step back from public life.
The former Duchess of York is said to be staying out of the spotlight following renewed scrutiny surrounding her past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. According to family members, the decision is largely about protecting those closest to her.
Her cousin-by-marriage, Martin Barrantes, explained that Ferguson has been focusing on her family, particularly their daughters and their young children, while navigating a challenging period.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Barrantes said Ferguson’s priority is shielding her loved ones from the attention surrounding the controversy.
“I have spoken to her and can tell you that she simply wants to protect her children and her grandchildren,” he said. “Sarah is going through a difficult moment, and I wanted to send her our support. She is a valued member of our family.”
Barrantes also shared that despite the ongoing scrutiny, Ferguson appeared to be in relatively good spirits.
He added that people should remember who was truly responsible for the scandal, pointing to Epstein as the central figure in the controversy.
“Sarah may have been naive to trust him and place confidence in him,” Barrantes said, adding that he believes she likely regrets that decision today.
Meanwhile, sources close to the family claim their daughters have also been trying to keep their distance from the renewed discussion around Epstein. With young children of their own, the sisters are reportedly focused on protecting their families and maintaining a sense of normal life during the renewed attention surrounding their father’s past association with Epstein.
