Andrew Lownie Accuses Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson of Decades of ‘Abuse of Power’

Royal author Andrew Lownie has made fresh claims against Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, accusing the pair of taking advantage of their royal status for decades.

Lownie, who wrote Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, shared his views in an interview with The i Paper, where he argued that the controversy surrounding the York family has been building for more than 40 years.

According to the author, “the Yorks’ abuse of their royal position is nothing new,” adding that the behaviour has allegedly continued for decades and may even have influenced other members of the Royal Family, including the Sussexes.

He pointed to several past scandals involving the couple, including claims that Ferguson sold access to Andrew during his time as a UK trade envoy in 2010. Lownie also referenced a 2022 High Court case involving a reported £1.3 million payment from a Turkish businessman to Andrew, Ferguson and one of their daughters, a matter he claimed was never fully explained publicly.

Lownie said the turning point came with the release of documents connected to convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein. He argued that the growing scrutiny around royal privilege and accountability eventually pushed King Charles III to act against Andrew last year.

Even so, the biographer believes the response came far too late. He argued that the controversy should serve as a warning about the need for greater transparency within the monarchy.

According to Lownie, public trust in the Royal Family has been damaged by the behaviour linked to the Yorks, and he believes reforms are necessary if the institution is to remain credible in a modern democracy.
