Expert says Princess of Wales won hearts with her warmth and willingness to listen
Catherine has been widely praised for her recent visit to Italy, with one royal expert claiming the Princess of Wales “outshone” every other member of the Royal Family during the trip.
The future Queen travelled to the European country earlier this week, where she focused on meeting cancer patients and learning more about innovative approaches to early childhood development and education in the Emilia-Romagna region.

, Judith Woods said Catherine captured public attention throughout the two-day solo visit.
She wrote that, regardless of what other royals had achieved at home, members of the Firm were “incontrovertibly outshone” by the “bellissima Caterina, Princess of Wales” during her time in northern Italy.
The expert highlighted Catherine’s long-standing commitment to early years development, saying the Princess visited the region to personally observe its groundbreaking methods while continuing to connect warmly with the public.
Woods noted that Catherine made a strong impression by kneeling to children’s eye level and attempting to speak their language to help those she met feel comfortable.
However, the commentator stressed that Catherine’s impact went beyond conversation alone.
“She was there to learn, and so she listened,” Woods remarked, praising the Princess for showing genuine interest and empathy during the visit.
