King Charles is reportedly facing growing pressure as the Palace finds itself in what insiders describe as an “extremely delicate” situation surrounding Andrew’s ongoing scandal.
According to reports, the monarch could be placed in a difficult position if he is asked to help cover his younger brother’s potential legal costs.
Sources told The i Paper that the Palace is trying to balance Andrew’s right to legal representation with the King’s constitutional role as head of state, particularly because criminal prosecutions in the UK are carried out in the monarch’s name.
One insider claimed the biggest challenge for Charles would come if expectations grow for him to financially support Andrew’s defence.
The source added that the King’s “overwhelming priority” is allowing the investigation to continue without interference.
According to the insider, if Andrew were unable to pay his legal bills, there could be grounds for the monarch to consider helping ensure he still has access to legal advice and representation, stressing that everyone is entitled to legal counsel.
The latest claims emerged after senior officials reportedly warned that the British police investigation involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could become lengthy and highly complex.
Charles’ younger brother was reportedly questioned for several hours by detectives after being arrested at his Norfolk home earlier this year following the release of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein by the U.S. Department of Justice.
