King Charles gives ‘masterclass’ in handling awkward moments

King Charles appeared to smoothly avoid an uncomfortable exchange during a recent public appearance earlier this week.

The monarch attended a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in support of the King’s Trust, where he was seen chatting with singer Rod Stewart.

During the interaction, Stewart praised the King over his recent trip to the Americas and remarked: “May I say well done in the Americas, you were superb, absolutely superb. You really put that little rat bag in his place.”

Royal expert Richard Kay later reflected on the moment, suggesting the King handled the situation with calm professionalism.

He explained that Charles likely realised cameras and microphones could be capturing the exchange, but carefully avoided escalating the moment.

Kay noted that although the King’s exact reply could not be heard because his back was turned to the cameras, Charles is highly experienced in dealing with awkward public encounters and rarely makes a mistake in such situations.
