King Charles Security Fears Raised After Guards Accused of Sleeping on Duty

Investigation launched into claims officers abandoned posts at Windsor Castle

Fresh concerns have emerged over the safety of King Charles after reports claimed specialist police officers guarding Windsor Castle were caught sleeping while on duty.

The allegations involve Metropolitan Police officers assigned to royal protection duties, with claims suggesting some officers failed to properly carry out their responsibilities during working hours.

According to The Sun

, the incident allegedly involved officers clocking in for duty before failing to remain at their designated posts.

A source told the publication the situation was both embarrassing for the police force and potentially dangerous.

“It’s an embarrassment for the police, as well as exposing a potential security breach,” the insider claimed. “These are serious allegations which could lead to officers being suspended and placed under investigation for misconduct and dereliction of duty.”

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley confirmed an urgent investigation has now been launched by the force’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

“Our Directorate of Professional Standards has launched an urgent investigation following concerns raised regarding the conduct of a number of officers on protective duties at Windsor Castle,” Rowley said.

“The allegations include officers leaving posts unattended and sleeping while on duty.”

He added that the reported behaviour falls well below the standards expected from officers working in high-level protective roles.

Rowley also confirmed the Independent Office for Police Conduct had been informed and agreed the matter would continue to be investigated internally by the Metropolitan Police.

As part of the ongoing enquiry, officials are reportedly considering whether any officers involved should be moved to restricted duties while investigations continue.
