Prince Harry Faces Calls to Step Down from African Charity Amid Fresh Criticism

Duke of Sussex comes under renewed scrutiny as campaigners question his continued support for African Parks

Prince Harry is facing growing pressure to step away from his role with African Parks following renewed criticism over allegations linked to the conservation organization.

The Duke of Sussex has come under fire after indigenous rights group Survival International claimed that serious concerns surrounding African Parks have still not been resolved. The charity has previously accused African Parks of human rights abuses against members of the Baka community living in and around Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of the Congo.

The allegations prompted an independent investigation conducted by law firm Omnia Strategy. In May 2025, African Parks acknowledged that human rights abuses had occurred in some cases and expressed regret for the suffering experienced by victims.

Despite that admission, Survival International argues that conditions on the ground remain unchanged. According to The Times, the organization recently criticized Harry for attending a fundraising event in Arizona aimed at raising $1 billion for conservation efforts.

A leader from the Baka community reportedly told the campaign group: “We don't work with them. The way African Parks treat us here is violent.”

Caroline Pearce, director of Survival International, also condemned Harry's ongoing involvement with the charity.

“It is outrageous to see Harry’s continued support for African Parks despite the horrific human rights abuses committed by its rangers against the Baka,” she said.

Harry has maintained a long-standing connection to Africa and wildlife conservation. In 2015, he worked alongside African Parks during the first phase of the organization's 500 Elephants project, helping support efforts to relocate elephants and protect wildlife across the region.

The latest criticism has reignited debate over Harry's association with the conservation charity as campaigners continue to call for greater accountability.
