Prince Harry reportedly left Catherine disappointed after making comments about King Charles' health that some members of the Royal Family allegedly found hurtful, according to a royal expert.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal author Christopher Andersen claimed that Harry's remarks about wanting to repair family relationships after the King's cancer diagnosis did not sit well with the Princess of Wales.
Andersen, who spoke with numerous sources while researching his book Kate!, said tensions worsened after Harry suggested he wanted to "mend fences" because no one knew how long his father had left to live.
According to the author, sources told him that the comment struck a nerve within the family.
"The final straw came shortly after the King was diagnosed with cancer," Andersen said. "Harry essentially said, 'I'd like to mend fences because we just don't know how long my father has to live.' That kind of statement can be very hurtful to someone who is battling cancer and does not want to dwell on their own mortality."
The expert claimed the remarks were particularly upsetting for Catherine, who was also dealing with her own health challenges at the time.
"It was hurtful to Kate as well, I believe," Andersen said. He added that the comment fuelled speculation about the seriousness of the King's condition and further damaged hopes of reconciliation within the family.
According to Andersen, Catherine eventually reached a point where she no longer wished to make efforts to repair the relationship.
He claimed the Princess of Wales was left disappointed by Harry's actions and that any prospect of a reconciliation now appears remote.
The author also suggested that Prince William reacted angrily to the remarks, describing him as "apoplectic" with rage.
Andersen further alleged that Catherine told William she was "done with Harry," signalling what he believes could be a lasting breakdown in relations between the brothers and their families.
