Prince William and Catherine Keep Home Life Simple Despite Royal Status

Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly prefer a hands-on approach with family life

Prince William and Catherine reportedly maintain a modest and hands-on household despite their senior royal positions.

According to royal biographer Robert Hardman in his book Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, the couple chose not to significantly increase staff numbers at their home.

Hardman explained that while the Wales household does include a “yeoman” to assist with practical tasks such as luggage and uniforms, the family avoids relying heavily on domestic staff.

A source quoted in the book added that the couple do not even employ a butler, describing their home environment as “very much them at home with the kids.”

William has also previously spoken about encouraging environmentally friendly habits within the household during an interview with BBC.

The Prince of Wales explained that he and Catherine regularly talk to their children about recycling, saving water and turning off lights when leaving rooms.

“I think every family has these conversations,” William said, adding that families simply try to do what they can to help.

The couple are known for aiming to provide a relatively normal upbringing for their children while balancing royal responsibilities.
