Prince William praises local renewable energy initiative during North Yorkshire visit
Prince William visited a community-led renewable energy project during his latest trip to northern England.
The update was shared by Kensington Palace through the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, highlighting William’s visit to the River Bain Hydro Scheme.
Sharing photos from the visit, the palace explained that the project generates renewable energy for around 30 local homes.
According to the caption, the hydro scheme uses the natural flow of England’s shortest river to produce electricity and is expected to save more than 3,000 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime. The initiative also supports local energy independence while working in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
Photos from the visit showed William walking beside the site’s large water turbine and speaking with people involved in the project. Dressed casually for the outing, the Prince of Wales appeared deeply interested as he learned more about how the system operates and the benefits it brings to the local community.
The future King also spent time with young farmers at Crow Trees Farm during his visit to the region.
