Buckingham Palace shares update on Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence’s royal engagement
Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, have represented King Charles III during an official visit to Greece, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday.
According to the Palace, the couple travelled to Athens to mark the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Crete.
During the visit, Anne and Sir Tim met with Konstantinos Tasoulas at the Presidential Mansion in Athens. The royal family also shared photographs from the meeting on its official social media accounts.
The Battle of Crete was a major World War II campaign fought between May 20 and June 1, 1941, when Nazi Germany launched the first large-scale airborne invasion in military history in an attempt to seize the Greek island of Crete.
The United Kingdom played a key role in the battle, leading much of the Allied military effort and providing significant naval support during the campaign.
Princess Anne has long been recognised as one of the hardest-working members of the royal family and frequently carries out overseas engagements on behalf of the King.
